Automatic Weather Station

An automatic weather station (AWS) is an automated version of the traditional weather station, either to save human labor or to enable measurements from remote areas. An AWS will typically consist of a weather-proof enclosure containing the data logger, rechargeable battery, telemetry (optional) and the meteorological sensors with an attached solar panel or wind turbine and mounted upon a mast.
The specific configuration may vary due to the purpose of the system. The system may report in near real time via the Argos System, LoRa and the Global Telecommunications System,or save the data for later recovery. AWS
An Automated Weather Station typically consists of several key components that work together to collect accurate and reliable weather data. These components include:

- Weather Sensors: The station is equipped with various sensors that measure parameters such as temperature, humidity, wind speed and direction, rainfall, atmospheric pressure, solar radiation, and more. These sensors detect changes in the weather conditions and convert them into electrical signals.

- Data Logger: The data logger is responsible for recording and storing the measurements obtained from the weather sensors. It acts as the brain of the AWS, processing and managing the collected data.

- Communication System: To transfer the recorded data to a central server or display it in real-time, an AWS relies on a communication system. This can be a wired or wireless network connection, satellite communication, or even a cellular network.

- Power Supply: The AWS requires a power source to operate continuously. It can be powered by solar panels, batteries, or a combination of both, ensuring uninterrupted functioning even in remote locations.
